TRAIN

I have been hard at work this week training with my 7 yr old nephew. Also 1 trip to the sweet new trail at Warhini park in NewKent(has the most climbing of any trail south of Richmond(yes more than York River!!)Floyds web site has been boasting big rides as well eg " Floyd is back to training 500 miles a week on his bike. He put his new hip to the ultimate test of high intensity training by spending 3 weeks in the mountains of Colorado in preparation for the Leadville event including a few 150 mile training rides over Vail Pass. The BHR came through the training, racing and trauma without a problem and has proved itself ready for a record attempt at the Tour de France next year.He is now back to 95% of his 2006 tour de france shape with being able to sustain 380 watts for 30 min and 3weeks of 20 hrs a week" Sounds like its gonna be ruff at the front!!!!

F-Bomb

Yup its true I am about to drop the F bomb.Looks like Floyd Landis will be attempting to do the SM100!(which I won in 2005)!!!Its gonna be a sick race for sure this year!Everyone is in top form and the Competition is off the Chain.Iam excited hopefully no mechanicals like I had last year.Seems it will be tuff to stay in the top 10.I wish JB was going to do it......Maybe.....

Cheat Mountain, WV

Just got back from another excursion.Jeremiah persuaded me to come out for some "world cup"training. This consisted of 2 Day's of throwing down.1st day just under 5hrs of riding and 6,500 vert feet of climbing on the MTB where JB found him a mascot.A small trail dog that wouldnt leave his side all the way up the 1hr and a half climb he was doing his interval on.Hopefully the Dog doesn't fall victim to the many bear hunters who were out on the mountain. We hooked him up with a powerbar and some water then we were off(wich we ended up running out of water 3hrs in as well). Day 2 was the Cheat Mountain Challenge in WV.107mile road race/ride with 11thousand vert feet of climbing. This was a sick ride for sure. It went from the gun with all the locals on a mission to beat Scottie Weiss record of 5hr 49 min but with the course being a mile longer and finishing Literally at the top of Snowshoe mountain it didnt seem possible. The first 2 hrs some master racer who had us convinced he was scotty W was killing it.Luckily he tired but by then he had shredded the peloton down to a hand full.Thats when we started to hit the climbs I went to the front and before I knew it,There was only JB and some unknown superman from Charolottesville who was very impressive on the climbs. So for the next 60 miles We were on our own battling the heat.it wasnt until the base of snowshoe Jb decided to do what he does best and put the pressure on.I didnt react so the cville guy would chase,He did and he cracked so I was off on my own up the climb (Some Cam learned tactics)which was fine but there was no catching Jb. ended up 4 min back by the top, not to bad considering I had my tounge on the stem for the last 50 or so miles.Plus We both beat the record with Jb at 5hr27 and me at5hr31.I was absolutely crushed afterwards!!!Time to rest

Snowmass,Colorado

WOW!what can I say?I thought I had seen everything but I was proven wrong again.Aspen is a beautiful place. The mountains make me want to run away from everything and just live like a nomad. The highlight of this trip was definitely the 6hr mega hike / then ride Nicole and I did up to just under 13thousand feet from the Marroon bells.Pictures do not do this place justice. The race was awesome as well, with 7k feet of climbing in less than 2hrs(thats exactly half of the SM100 which takes almost 8hrs!) with some of the best views of all the venues!(only complaint was literally standing still waiting a few minutes for the bottleneck of traffic to cross a single person bridge and the fact that I lost a few places going with the hard tail on the bone jarring descents/which were great by the way!)Not to mention the off roading rock excursion in the FJ cruisers Nicole and I stumbled upon...Too many fun things to list.Next year calls for a longer stay for sure!!!Ill post some pics periodically....................

3 skinny J's

Went and re conned some SM100 trail with the 3(kinda Skinny J's Jeremiah, jeff, and Jimmy had a good time despite a certain world class athlete forgetting something pretty important to making his ride more enjoyable(Not a safety feature though). Not to mention the Stinging nettles which seemed to have everyone mysteriously making their way to the back of the pack when the trail ran threw them....Oh yea, today made it up to Sherando lake with John Micheal for his first REAL mountain ride.I think he enjoyed it, I know I did!I haven't seen some of that trail since Nicole and I used to do the loop together(years ago)That place Rocks!!!(more ways than 1).Tomorrow off to Aspen to check out Colorado and suffer at altitude, then hope to come back and maybe hit the willysburg Bikebeat ride that's starting back up on Tuesdays since I haven't touched the road bike in months.....................Chow
